Gotta love all the beer festivals in the name of October. This weekend was one of many that we will be attending this Fall. OctoBEARfest, the Maryland Zoo’s second beer fest of the year was a grand ole’ time.
Although Brew at the Zoo is arguably more popular we were very happy with the size of this event and of course all of the types of beer we could sample.
In the name of Fall, pretty much every stand had pumpkin beers and ciders. I am not a huge fan of pumpkin beers but, I did enjoy many of the ciders and red ales that were out. Interestingly, one of my favorite ciders was the Pumkin Cider by Harpoon. It was like drinking a spiced chai but the cold cider version.
The event lasted half a day and tickets also allowed us to go and visit the zoo which was quite an eventful experience. We were able to check out the newly remodeled penguin exhibit and happened to get there right before a keeper talk.
These guys are the African Penguins–aren’t they just so cute?! We also saw some other animals–flamingos, the rhino and the elephants. I hadn’t been to the zoo in so long that it was really quite amazing to see the wildlife so close up.
I took so many pics of these flamingos..they were asleep but just so gorgeous! Love their vibrant color!
All in all, it was a wonderful day with wonderful friends and beer!
